The idea of "Kept" is essentially a reminder of being safe, protected, seen, loved, and cared for by God, regardless of life's challenges. God is the most constant and unchanging security and love. It's a reminder to slow down and remember that to keep our minds on Him is to to be kept in perfect peace.

Kelli began this painting in California, in the spring of 2024 and recently completed it after returning to the East Coast. The washes of color serve as a reflective space, capturing a period of retreat and healing from past
trauma — one that truly began to take shape after a season spent in bouts of high stress and constant busyness.
While exploring more intense themes in other areas of her painting practice, she found it both refreshing and recalibrating to simplify compositions into soft washes of color fields. In this scene, she loosely retraces a Long Beach boardwalk skyline at twilight.
